About The Optometrists'

Dr. Bruce Oberhelman has served the greater-Manhattan area as an optometrist at Manhattan Eyecare for nearly 40 years. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University he attended the College of Optomery at Pacific University, earning his O.D. in 1975. Shortly thereafter he joined Manhattan Eyecare and, since that time, has enjoyed a long and fruitful career. His vast breadth of experience is an invaluable asset to the practice and the local community as a whole.

In his spare time Dr. Oberhelman enjoys painting and swimming, and is a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, the Kansas Optometric Association and American Optometric Association. He lives with his wife, Patty, and has two grown children.

Dr. Tara Hake received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Kansas State University and her Doctor of Optometry Degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, where she graduated cum laude.

Dr. Hake is currently an active member of the Kansas Optometric Association and American Optometric Association, and is a member of Junior League of Flint Hills.

Dr. Hake provides complete vision care including pediatrics, primary care, fitting of glasses and contact lenses as well as treatment of eye disease, eye injury, and surgical co-management.

Dr. Hake and her husband Jeff have two children, Hadley (5 years old) and Parker (2.5 years old).  In her spare time, Tara enjoys attending Kansas State sporting events with her family and playing with their two dogs.
